The notion that spiders are feminine comes from the name of one of the most notorious spiders alive "The Black Widow".  Feminine Power through the spider stems from the fact that any male spider who mates with a female, (if not extremely careful), will also end up as her lunch...

To me, a spider means the following:

A spider is the manipulative side of us.  As the spider weaves a web to catch an unsuspected prey, so we also plan and manipulate our circumstances in order to make any outcome favourable to us.  Dreaming of a spider weaving a web, teaches you to plan ahead and think a plan through before you start any venture.

It is not a matter of being manipulative for manipulations sake though, but a matter of survival.  If the spider does not weave the web, she will starve.  If we do not look out for our own interests, we stand to be harmed by other "spiders".  Dreaming of a spider chasing you or biting you is a warning to look out for someone who can potentially harm you in order to protect their own interests.

Spider also teach the lesson that in nature need comes before grace and that "Charity begins at home".  Therefore the mother spider will eat her male partner without remorse because she needs the energy to produce the eggs which will carry HIS genes into the future.  The male becomes the sacrifice for a greater cause.

If your dream involves spiders mating and/or one spider eating another...then depending on whether you are male or female, you will have to (male) make the sacrifice for the sake of your family, or (female) you will demand the sacrifice for the sake of your family from your partner.  It may be taking a new job, moving home or any issue that will involve your family's survival and wellbeing, and it will be a descision you won't want to make but have to for the greater good....
