It will be far easier for you to spend your time thinking of a long-distance loved one now than it will be to worry about yourself. Now that you know, be careful to keep your checkbook close and only buy what this far-off friend will appreciate, not something extravagant just to make a point. After all, the best gift of all is the fact that you thought enough of them to even want to buy them something.
