I have a ring that has a stone in it, I think it is called Modalvite.  It is supposed to be from southern Russia, Czeklosovakia (pardon the spelling) and is supposed to be a piece of a meteor that hit the earth and combined with earth and rock to create this stone.

One of the main properties is making the wearer open to everything.  In doing a reading for someone this might be good, but I don't wear it on a daily basis because I don't always feel strong enough to be open for everything.

Does anyone know anything about such a stone?

I wore moldavite for several years.  I really like it.  
It is too much for some people.
It likes the sun, be sure and put it in the sun frequently to cleanse.  
I have moldavite on my desk all the time.
I learned how to "ground" new ways wearing it.  The earth didn't work well for me.  
I used outriggers for myself to stay upright.  (you know how the boats in Hawaii have the sides to help stabalize the boats, I would do the same thing)  
It is a powerful tool
A friend put on my moldavite and was shocked at how many entities were talking to me all the time.
He was shocked.
Anyway.  Yes, it is for real.
Adjust to it so you and those around you can get used to it.  Don't sea salt it to clean it.
Enjoy it, it is a powerful stone.

Thank you for the input.  And I appreciate the confirmation.  I have looked and looked for information about it in gem books and have had little success.

I will place it in the sun first thing.

It won't be in gem books beacuse it has a high fracture level and is virtually a glass so isn't classed as a gemstone.  I found an old post about it here

If you do put it in the sun beware of what is around it and underneath it, as it will act like glas and can cause scorches and burns.
