So I was picking up rocks from yard last week, as we are trying to get it ready to landscape in the spring. (we live in southeastern british columbia) and I came across a rock with what appears to be a quartz like crystals inside it.   I managed to break the rock in half by smashing it with another rock and can see the seam lines and chunks of crystal inside.

my question is does anyone know how to safely extract the crystal fro the rock?  The rock itself is about the size of a cantalope?

I have never removed crystals from rock so I was wondering if anyone has any info to help. Thanks.

Hi ,

Sounds like a quartz geode? In which case you can split the crystals off but you will probably lose a lot of the power and energy of a bigger rock  Why do you want to split them off? The value in the geode is in the crystal sbeing part of the matrix/base rock.

I just assumed a the crystals would be better if had them away from the rock. I am very very new to crystals, so I will look up info on the quartz geode.
