I have been using crystals for years and have just recently taken an interest in Reiki.  As with lots of things there is no one cultural/religous/occult system that I can say I believe that and only that.  I tend to take the bits from various cultures that feel right to me and add a bit of my own to that and it works well enough for me.

I use crystals/minerals and stones.  I always cleanse any I purchase and try to remove any pain or distress they felt being mined and replace that with harmony by trying to link back to the crystals own memory of before being harvested.

I also cannot resist walking on a pebble beach or river bank and collecting stones that literally draw me to them! A recent and wonderful find was a hands sized water smoothed pebble with a hole about a third of its size through the middle - holy stone!
