Common Forms of IChing - Coins
Coins are normally preferred to sticks for reading.
There are coins that are Chinese and these are kept normally in a cloth
or pouch and no one else is supposed to touch these as they are sacred
to the owner of them. However, normal coins can be used, just make sure
that they are fresh new coins. The coins do not have to be worth much
because it is not the value that matters. It is the freshness of them,
that they have been untouched by others; so they do not have other
peoples Vibes on them! A scarf of cloth is normally carried around with
these coins solely for the use of readings. When using these coins three
incense/joss sticks are lit, these are held in both hands whilst blowing
three times and praying to the dog/gods for guidance. The three coins
are then picked up in both hands whilst concentrating on the question
and gently thrown onto the cloth. When using Chinese coins the side with
the most heavy inscription or heads means yang, and the other side,
tails means yin.
