Vedanga is the Constituents or the texts from the 5th and 4th centuries BC dealing with and ritual commands and linguistics and grammar and astronomy and astrology of the Vedas. Usually there are 6 in number, which are essential for understanding and proper sacrificial employment of the Vedas are (i) Sikshas, the science of pronunciation, (ii) Chandas, the science of prosody, (iii) Vyakarana, the grammar, (iv) Nirukta, etymology or glossary, (v) Jyotisha, astronomy and astrology, and (vi) Kalpa, the rituals.
