Resin is in a hard form. It almost looks like a rock. For example I use dragons blood resin and it looks like an unpolished ruby. It is alot stronger smelling then incense or oils. You can break off a small piece and burn it in a resin burner.

um...resins need not necessarily be in solid form tho....then again people seemingly NEVER use the word "oleoresin" so differentiation is difficult at best....
Liquid styrax is an (oleo)resin for example...
