If your interested in green  issues combined with artistry, one creative idea comes from the remote mountain villages of Lapa, Tipling and Shertung. The people there have made colorful baskets, bowls, and coaster out of discarded plastic wrappers from popular snack foods.

Recycling programs have been started in the villages to encourage the collection of the non-biodegradable trash and to educate about the importance of protecting the natural ecology. Proceeds help fund healthcare and community education in Nepal as well as providing a livelihood for the artist.
